Learn To Swim Classes

Red Cross Swim Preschool - for babies 4 months to 5-year-old children
This 7-level program allows your children to enter levels based on their age and abilities:

  • During levels Starfish and Duck, the parent or caregiver will participate in the classes together with their child
  • Sea Turtle level provides a transition where parents can gradually leave their preschooler with the Instructor.
  • Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile and Whale levels are unparented - the children will be with the Instructor at all times.

Red Cross Swim Kids - for 6-year-old children & older
This 10-level program for school aged children will help swimmers develop all six swimming strokes (front and back crawl, elementary back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, sidestroke), actively learn how to be safe around the water, and increase their fitness and endurance through fun activities. Children will be challenged to achieve personal bests in distance and time, which will be a strong motivator through all 10 levels.

School Board Lessons

This is an instructional program offered through the Kenora Board of Education and the Kenora Catholic District School Board. The Red Cross Swim Program and Lifesaving Society levels are taught.

Teen & Adult Lessons

The Red Cross Adult swim programs are exciting for adolescents and adults based on personal needs, interest and abilities. Take the plunge- it’s never too late!

Swim Basics- For those starting to swim, we help you increase your comfort & confidence in the water & build skills for swimming.

Swim Strokes- Bring out the best swimmer in you! Increase you distance & speed & become more proficient in the strokes of your choice.

Junior Lifeguard Club

JLC offers serious fun for kids 8 years & up who can swim at least 25m & tread water for 2 minutes. An action-packed challenge for kids who love the water but who want more then "lessons." JLC is for quick learners, those between levels or programs who thrive in an energetic learning environment.

Private Lessons

Private and semi-private lessons are available for swimmers who may need assistance mastering a particular skill or stroke. A few lessons with private instruction will leave the individual ready to continue with group lessons. All lessons are 30 minutes in length. Sorry no refund for a missed class.

Private Lesson - $20 per lesson

Swim Descriptions

Lane Swim

Refresh yourself with an invigorating swim! Lap swimming for active swimmers aged 13 years and over. The lane pool will be set-up in lanes. At times, the pool will be shared with other programs, however, a minimum of 2 lanes will be open at all times during a Lane swim. 

Public Swim

Everyone welcome! Anyone who likes fun, challenges and activity will enjoy these swims. Exciting attractions such as the Tazan rope, waterslide, water sprinklers and a variety of water play equipment are for people of all ages. Attractions are open at various times. Please refer to the swim schedule and check the admission requirements.

Tot SwimTot Swim

This swim is designed for tots with parents/caregivers to enjoy time in the Tot Pool during the day. A variety of water toys and play equipment is available. Accompanying adult is responsible for supervision of children in their care and must stay in the water and within arms reach at all times.  

 

 

 

Water Fit

If you enjoy the water and would like to improve your fitness level, this is the program for you!  a fun and differerent way to trim and tone those muscles, while improving your cardiovascular system.

Gentle Fit

A gentle stretching and exercise program!  Excellent for individuals with arthritis, joint pain, back trouble, recovering from recent surgery or wanting some gentle exercise.
