City Of Kenora Fire And Emergency Services
"HERITAGE, SERVICE, PRIDE"
The citizens residing within the City of Kenora have ready access to a wide range of emergency services.
Our first and most vital link to all of these agencies is the City of Kenora's "911 Call Centre". This service is located and operated from the Kenora Police Service. The 911 Call Center is the "backbone" to all of our emergency services. From this Centre, Fire, Police, Ambulance, Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue and other allied emergency services are alerted and dispatched.
The City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services is a composite fire service, deployed from four fire stations. It includes eight pumpers, one rescue, one aerial, two utility units and one marine unit.
The City of Kenora benefits from two Policing Services, namely the City of Kenora Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. Both policing agencies, although deployed from separate headquarters, are inextricably linked in activity and function.
The Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue is a volunteer group composed of individuals interested in assisting other agencies in locating missing persons lost either in rural or urban locations. High-angle rescue is another one of Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue's specialties. More recently, the acquisition of an airboat will allow allied agencies to rescue and serve individuals who have ventured out on poor ice or simply need to be transported to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital during spring ice break-up.
We are proud of our Emergency Services and allied agencies. We are especially proud of how members of these organizations respond to calls for service without regard for their own personal well being, but rather with a desire and passion to serve the public to the best of their abilities.
Our Emergency Service response within the City of Kenora is unparalleled.
