Today, City of Kenora Council interrupted traffic on Main Street South with a banner cutting to welcome Kenora residents, seasonal residents, neighbouring communities and visitors to the community kicking off the 2022 Glad You Are Here campaign.
The City of Kenora has many initiatives planned throughout the summer including, continued support of the pop-up patio program, new streetscaping elements in the Harbourtown Centre, and promotional giveaways.
We are excited to continue the good work that the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce has done over the last two years in organizing the Open Air Street Markets on Main Street. The City is taking the lead on these events for 2022 and will be hosting two markets on July 16 and August 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The markets will play host to local and regional vendors and merchants, live music, a children’s activity area along with food and beverage offerings for all ages. This free public event is a great way to spend a summer afternoon in downtown Kenora exploring all the unique shops and eateries, and supporting local businesses. Interested businesses can book a table by completing our Kenora Main Street Market Form before July 9, 2022.
The popular Matiowski’s Farmers Market that everyone looks forward to will return on June 15, 2022 and continue into the fall. The City is excited to welcome back events to the community this summer and invites everyone to visit the Events Calendar.
“As we approach the long weekend, the unofficial start of summer, we welcome all to Kenora once again. With the community events and economic development initiatives planned, there will be so much for everyone to take in, states Mayor Daniel Reynard. We look forward to seeing the hustle and bustle in Kenora after a few years of uncertainty and limited activities. This summer promises to be exciting for visitors, residents and everyone spending time in Kenora.”
In addition, the City is pleased to announce and promote the Harbourfriends Downtown Ambassador Program. This program is modelled after similar initiatives in Winnipeg, Kelowna and Calgary. The purpose is to deliver an on-street presence in the Harbourtown Centre, provide visitors and residents with information, refer to support services to those in need, and connect with businesses.
