Mayor and Council

The City of Kenora is governed by a mayor, six councillors, and a variety of committees and boards. Council develops policies, enacts by-laws and oversees municipal planning. Mayoral decisions and directives are made under Strong Mayor Powers.

Get to know your councillors and visit the Mayor's Office to learn more about your elected officials.

Public engagement with Council

We're excited to announce a unique opportunity for you to engage with members of Council on matters important to you in a series of Town Hall Meetings. Everyone is welcome; however, pre-registration is required.

Watch for announcements about the next Town Hall on our event calendar, our Facebook page, or Instagram.

Please send in your questions/subjects for discussion in advance so we can be better prepared to provide accurate and comprehensive information. Be sure to register by emailing to communications@kenora.ca.If time allows, there will also be an open forum discussion.

You may also watch by joining Facebook Live on the City's Facebook page

For those who are unable to attend in person, you can contact Council members by email or plan to attend the next Town Hall Meeting. If you have a service need, you can always submit a Request For Service online.

It is important to note that Town Hall Meetings are not Official Council meetings and no decisions can be made. Not all members of Council will attend at one time to ensure a quorum is not present. These meetings are designed to foster open dialogue and engage with the community.

Accountability and transparency

We are committed to ensuring that Council is accountable to the public. Learn more about the Integrity Commissioner and closed meeting investigation process to see how we ensure that Council maintains transparency.
