The City of Kenora's Fire and Emergency Services works to keep our community safe. We have a municipal emergency management plan in place to protect the property, health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the City in emergencies.

The Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program may be activated by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing when a sudden, unexpected, and extraordinary natural disaster causes widespread and costly damage to eligible private property that is not covered by insurance.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is currently assessing the impacts of the rainstorm in Kenora to determine whether the impacts meet the criteria for activation of the DRAO program.
The DRAO program is not intended to replace insurance. The program is most often activated in response to overland flooding from rivers, creeks, and lakes, as insurance coverage for this type of flooding is not generally available.
Damage resulting from sewer backup is not eligible under the DRAO program. Insurance coverage for sewer backup, where water enters a home through connections to the sewer system, is widely available through homeowners' insurance policies.
It is also important to note that DRAO does not cover all costs. Damage to basements and crawl spaces is eligible only to the extent necessary to return these areas to a safe and basic state, such as cleanup, insulation and barrier replacement, and repair or replacement of essential like furnaces and hot water heaters. Costs associated with restoring basement finishes, furnishings and other non-essential items, are not eligible for assistance.
Those affected by flooding are encouraged to contact their insurance provider to determine whether their damages are covered.

Ambulance
Ambulance services in the City of Kenora are provide by Northwest Emergency Medical Services (NWEMS) which is operated by the Kenora District Services Board. For emergencies, call 911.
Women's shelter
Ontario Provincial Police
The Ontario Provincial Police Kenora Detachment provides police services for the City of Kenora. If you have information about a minor occurrence such as a theft, loss of property or driving complaint, you can file a report online.
Treaty Three Police Service
