Closed Meeting Investigations
In order to ensure transparent governance, the City of Kenora follows the closed meeting regulations outlined in section 239 of the Municipal Act. We've appointed a Closed Meeting Investigator to ensure that all council, board and subcommittee meetings follow regulations in the Municipal Act.
File a complaint
You can file a complaint to the Closed Meeting Investigator if you believe that a meeting closed to the public didn't comply with the Municipal Act. Please submit the Complaint Intake form to:

Your complaint must include the following information:
- your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address
- name the City of Kenora as the municipality
- date of the closed meeting under investigation
- background details about the particular occurrence
- any action that has been taken to resolve the issue, if any
- any additional comments
- your signature
Investigation process
The Closed Meeting Investigator will keep all information about the complaint confidential. If a complaint is received, the Closed Meeting Investigator's will:
- conduct an investigation
- determine whether the meeting complied with the Municipal Act
- report the results of the investigation
This process applies to all appointed boards and sub-committees of the municipality with the exception of the Kenora OPP Detachment Board and the Public Library Board.
