Keewatin Channel Bridge Two Lanes Open

until January 4, 2026

Both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the Keewatin Channel Bridge are open for holiday travel until Sunday, January 4, 2026. 

Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.

Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction

The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.

Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.

Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency or bus may be on the bridge at the same time. When multiple are crossing, these vehicles are to cross only after the preceding vehicle has passed the high mid-point of the bridge.

Sealed Tenders for Moncrief Construction Sports Centre Janitorial Services (2026), will be received by City of Kenora (the “City”) at 1 Main Street South, Kenora, ON P9N 3X2, Attention: City Clerk.

Time and date for Tender Closing is 11:00:00 a.m. CST on January 8, 2026 (the “Tender Closing”).

  1. The work to be undertaken generally involves but is not necessarily limited to the provision
    of regular janitorial services at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre (the “Work”) as set
    out in the attached Instructions to Tenderers and Appendices.
  2. The documents for the work can be obtained from MERX or the reception desk at City Hall located at 1 Main Street S, Kenora, Ontario.
  3. All written inquiries regarding the Work shall be emailed to Andrew Smith, General Manager
    of Recreation and Culture at asmith@kenora.ca, however the bidder(s) acknowledge and
    agree that the City does not have an obligation to provide a response to any written inquiry
    and that it is in the sole and unfettered discretion of the City to provide any written
    response to a written inquiry. Telephone inquiries will not be replied to.
  4. Submission of a tender by a Bidder gives the City the right to require the Bidder to execute
    the contract to perform the Work as set out within the tender documents. Tenders may not
    be withdrawn after the Tender Closing and will be irrevocable and open for acceptance by
    the CITY for a period of sixty (60) days following the end of the day of the Tender Closing.
    The Successful Bidder will be notified in writing of the award of the Tender when the City
    delivers a letter of intent to the Successful Bidder.

Sealed tenders for: McLeod Park Phase 2 (the “Project”) Tender Number: 860-7888-2, will be received by:
City of Kenora (the “City”) at 1 Main Street South, Kenora, ON P9N 3X2, Attention: City Clerk.

Time and date for Tender Closing is 11:00:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, January 15, 2026 (the “Tender Closing”)

  1. The work to be undertaken generally involves, but is not necessarily limited to the supply and installation of site development including; wood pergola, wood decking, skirting, and structure, wood ramp, hand and guard rails, crushed stone surfacing, site furnishing, lighting, landscaping and all related elements on the grounds of McLeod Park in Kenora, Ontario (the “Work”) as set out on the list of drawings and specifications included in Appendix B and C of the tender documents.
  2. The City’s consultant for the Project is HTFC Planning & Design Inc.
  3. The Successful Bidder shall achieve final performance of the Work for the Project by October 31, 2026.
  4. The drawings and specifications for the Project are included with the tender package or can be obtained from the reception desk on the second floor of the City of Kenora Operations Centre located at 60 Fourteenth Street North, Kenora, Ontario at no cost to the proponent.
  5.  All written inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the drawings and specifications for the Work shall be emailed to Stefan Stiller (sstiller@kenora.ca), however the bidder(s) acknowledge and agree that the City does not have an obligation to provide a response to any written inquiry and that it is in the sole and unfettered discretion of the City to provide any written response to a written inquiry. Telephone inquiries will not be replied to.
  6. Submission of a tender by a Bidder gives the City the right to require the Bidder to execute the contract to perform the Work as set out within the tender documents. Tenders may not be withdrawn after the Tender Closing and will be irrevocable and open for acceptance by the City for a period of sixty (60) days following the end of the day of the Tender Closing. Submitting a bid and public openings

You must submit your bid by 11 a.m. CT on the bid closing day or as listed in the tender document. 
Unless specific directions are provided in the tender document, you must submit your bid in person or by mail to:

All submissions received before the closing deadline are opened at City Hall in Council Chambers. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Surplus materials and equipment for auction

When the City has surplus materials or equipment, you can submit a bid to purchase the excess items through a public online auction or govdeals.com.

Bids are accepted to ensure that the City generates the highest value possible from the sale of the item. Actively participating in the auction presents a fair and transparent opportunity to purchase valuable equipment or materials through the City's Disposal of Surplus Policy.

There are no excess items. Check back regularly for bid opportunities.

Additional procurements

The Corporation of the City of Kenora intends to participate in one or more procurements conducted by Local Authority Services (LAS) between January 2025 and December 2025. For further information and access to LAS request for proposal (RFP) notices, please visit las.on.ca.

Tender results

All tender results are unofficial until approved by Council or the respective department.

After the  closing date/time, the City will review and evaluate all the Proposals received based upon the information supplied by the Proponents in accordance with the submission requirements of the Tender or Request for Proposal.

In evaluating the proposals received, the City will consider all of the criteria listed and the City will have the sole and unfettered discretion to award based only on full compliance to the bid requirements.
