Fire Ban in Effect

No Outside Burning Until Further Notice

Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.

In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.

All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.  

All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.

The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.

    Paws to Read 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    Provided by Therapeutic Paws of Canada, this program is offered free of charge to assist children that struggle with reading. Come read to a furry friend! This program is by appointment only and is volunteer dependant, therefore cancellations may occur. Registration is required, call, email, or visit the Kenora Public Library to sign-up.

    Storywalk 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

    Book pages are printed onto panels that are then posted outside for you to read as you take a stroll around the Harbourfront. The story is told in both English and French!

    Science North 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

    Mighty Machines: get ready to build, tinker, and put machines to work. Led by Science North Bluecoats, visitors can explore gears and “mini” machines, create robots, and experiment with snap circuits. Want a challenge? Design the ultimate racecar track and test what you’ve built. This exhibit is all about problem-solving through play, because every machine has a job, and so do you.
