The City is excited to announce the sale of the property and building at 1125 Highway 17 East has been finalized. As of July 12, 2021, the City officially signed over the property to the new owner. Construction has started to renovate the existing building from a policing station to business offices.

MNP was the successful bidder in a competitive Expression Of Interest (EOI) process launched on May 22, 2020. The purpose of the competition was to find an investor that would be interested in the opportunity to redevelop the property. The municipality received a number of proposals and evaluated each submission based on criteria including, but not limited to: the estimated value of construction, job creation potential, and timelines for development.

MNP looks forward to celebrating this business expansion in the community. “Our long-term investment in Kenora is our way of demonstrating MNP’s commitment to the community.” says Rob Mozzon, FCPA, FCA, Regional Managing Partner – Northern Ontario, MNP.

“MNP is thrilled this new location will expand our presence in Kenora to accommodate our growing team of professionals. Our growth will allow us to provide a broader range of services to our communities and business partners.” says Joseph Fregeau, CPA, CA, Partner – Kenora, MNP.

In 2020 the City declared this property as surplus to encourage growth and expansion of commercial developments along Highway 17 East. The continued development of commercial spaces to serve the residents of the City of Kenora and Northwestern Ontario is paramount to maintaining a healthy local economy.

“The development of this property is a further investment in our community by MNP and we are confident they will develop an attractive addition to the commercial area. These developments assist us with revitalizing our community and encourages new developments, jobs, and generates tax revenues. We are happy to see this new opportunity in the area.” says City of Kenora Mayor Daniel Reynard.
