Land Acknowledgement
In the spirit of reconciliation, the City of Kenora acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Metis of Treaty #3. The City of Kenora was originally the land base of one collective First Nation community, which was separated into three communities now known as Wauzhushk Onigum, Niisaachewan, and Washagamis Bay First Nations. Kenora now sustains many others, all of whom have been welcomed to peacefully share and care for these ancestral Lands and Waters. To support stewardship of the land, the City recognizes the importance of a strong relationship with our Treaty #3 partners. The City of Kenora acknowledges that our economy greatly benefits from the Anishinaabe and Metis that live in and around the City.

The City’s Economic Development and Tourism Department is excited to announce the launch of a marketing project aimed at shaping the future of economic growth and opportunities Kenora.

The first step of this project is to deliver a short survey, designed to gather input from the community about the kind of businesses, services and opportunities that residents want to see in Kenora.

“The Economic Development team is eager to complete this project,” says Stace Gander, Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “Project outcomes will position Kenora to attract investment opportunities and workers and help to drive development in our City.”

Ensuring economic stability and growth is a priority for City Council and Administration. The Economic Development team continues to collaborate with current businesses to foster retention and expansion while also engaging new investors to promote development within our local economy. A vibrant and diverse economy enhances the quality of life for our residents, making Kenora a great place to live and work.

Residents—both full-time and seasonal—as well as visitors are encouraged to take a short, 10-minute survey to share their ideas on how the City can build a more thriving and vibrant community. This input will help guide our efforts to attract new business, investments, and opportunities to Kenora.

The survey is open until May 30, 2025.

This project is supported by the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT). The MAT is a visitor tax allocated by Council to support tourism and economic development initiatives in the City.
