The City’s Economic Development and Tourism Department, in partnership with the Harbourtown BIZ, are thrilled to bring back the popular ‘Glad You Are Here’ summer attraction, a series of vibrant art installations from WKNDRS. This year’s displays include five new popsicle-shaped installations that will be “popping” up throughout downtown Kenora.
These vibrant, three-dimensional artworks are designed to boost the summer atmosphere in Kenora, inviting residents and visitors to explore the downtown area, celebrate community spirit, and enjoy a fun, family-friendly photo opportunity.
Supported by the Harbourtown BIZ, the City is launching a contest to coincide with the five new popsicle installations. This year’s theme, Kool Kenora, encourages exploration and community involvement. Two winners will be randomly selected to each receive a $200 gift card to a local downtown business of their choice. Residents and visitors are invited to discover the five unique popsicle displays scattered throughout downtown Kenora. Entries can be submitted via Facebook and Instagram.
How to participate in the Kool Kenora Contest
- Follow @TourismKenora on Facebook and Instagram.
- Take a photo of any of the five Kool Kenora displays located around downtown.
- Tag @TourismKenora and include the hashtag #KoolKenora in your post.
Multiple entries are welcome! Finding and photographing all five displays increases your chances of winning.
The displays will be installed on June 27, 2025, with the Kool Kenora Contest running from June 27 to August 31, 2025. Join in the fun and get “pops-tively” creative as you explore downtown Kenora! Show us your summer adventures in the lively heart of the community.
For full contest rules and updates, visit visitkenora.ca and follow the City’s Tourism Facebook and Instagram pages.
Municipal Accommodation Tax
The City’s contribution to this project is funded by the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT), collected on short-term accommodations within Kenora. The MAT funds support tourism initiatives and economic development efforts across the community, helping to promote local businesses and enhance visitor experiences without impacting municipal taxes.
