Prepare for an exhilarating adventure as the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre proudly announces the grand opening of its latest exhibit, ‘Beyond Human Limits Lite’, on August 15. This thrilling exhibit, which will be on display through January 2, 2025 and invites visitors of all ages and abilities to dive into the adrenaline-pumping world of extreme sports.

“GET UP, TRY AGAIN, PUSH FURTHER!” is the spirit behind this extraordinary showcase. ‘Beyond Human Limits Lite’ offers a dynamic and immersive experience where visitors can experiment with the physics of snowboarding slopes, test their hang time endurance while surfing, and challenge their climbing skills on a traversing wall. Adventurers can trace the footsteps of a parkour athlete and put themselves in the action at the Flipped Photo Op.

The exhibit features many interactive components that are designed with accessibility in mind, such as digital interactions with two athletes at the forefront of wheelchair motocross (WCMX) and virtually race backcountry slopes as skiers or snowboarders.

Josh Nelson, Tourism Development Officer, expresses his excitement about the exhibit by stating, “We are thrilled to host Science North’s traveling exhibit, ‘Beyond Human Limits Lite,’ at the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre. This exhibit will invite our residents and visitors to jump, fly, dive, and climb, all while exploring some of the most extreme sports in the world. It’s a fantastic opportunity to challenge ourselves and celebrate the incredible feats of human determination and skill.”

The exhibit goes beyond the action, delving into the heart of what drives athletes. Visitors can gauge their own thrill-seeking tendencies and compare them with the featured athletes. Through engaging stories and personal insights, visitors will learn about the motivations, training regimens, and resilience required to excel in the awe-inspiring feats of extreme sports.

Mayor Poirier shares his enthusiasm, “I encourage everyone to visit ‘Beyond Human Limits Lite’ and engage with cutting-edge interactive experiences to get a taste of the thrills of extreme sports in a safe and immersive environment. This exhibit promises to inspire and thrill visitors as they explore the incredible world of extreme sports right here in Kenora.”

Seize the opportunity to experience this high-octane exhibit at the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre and discover what it truly means to push the limits of human potential.
