Please be advised that the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) depot at the Transfer Station is conveniently moving to Saturdays, starting June 7 and continuing every Saturday until the end of September. The HHW depot hours will remain the same - open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The HHW depot is a free once-a-week service for residential customers and allows customers to dispose of household items that are reactive, flammable, corrosive, poisonous, and otherwise potentially dangerous every week at the special depot. There are no changes to the list of acceptable items, such as old paint cans, empty propane cylinders, and aerosols. Be sure all items are carefully packed and clearly labelled. Seal the sharps in a plastic container with a lid; a peanut butter container works best.
We cannot accept hazardous waste from industrial, home-based or commercial businesses through this residential service.
The HHW depot opens at 9 a.m., and we cannot have customers lining up on City property waiting for the depot to open. This safety measure is important for continuous traffic flow and the safety of our workers on the site. Please note that you will be asked to leave if you fail to follow these rules. The HHW depot closes at 2 p.m. promptly.
There are seventeen Saturdays to take advantage of this free service, making bringing your items easier and more convenient. By properly disposing of household hazardous waste, you help extend the life of our landfill and remove toxic items from our environment.
