It's Time to Buy Ice Candles

The Lake of the Woods Cemetery is now accepting orders for ice candles for the 26th Annual Ice Candle Festival of Lights. Orders are accepted until Friday, December 6, 2024.

Purchase ice candles online or in person at City Hall to be placed at the grave of your loved one, at the memory board, or at a Veteran's grave.

The Adopt A Veteran's Grave program returns again this year. When you participate in this program, you are helping us reach our goal of having an ice candle on every Veteran's grave and supporting the local Legion. Two dollars from each Adopt a Veteran's Grave ice candle purchased will be donated to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #12 Kenora. In 2023, 299 candles were sold under this program, and $598 was presented to the Kenora Legion. Over 600 Veteran graves are marked at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.

The Festival of Lights transforms the Lake of the Woods Cemetery into a beautiful winter scene. Many families have made this festival a cherished Christmas Eve tradition in memory of their loved ones. Community support has made this event a unique aspect of Kenora's holiday celebrations. We look forward to another wonderful holiday festival this Christmas Eve.
