Kenora is Invited to the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan Open House
The City’s Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan Implementation Committee is excited to invite all residents to the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan Open House for an opportunity to learn, share, and connect as our community works towards a safer, more inclusive Kenora.
Join us on Monday, June 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre, located at 931 Lakeview Drive. This is a family-friendly, come-and-go event where attendees can drop in at any time during the evening. Everyone is welcome.
This Open House offers a chance to celebrate and explore the 10-year the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan, which was officially adopted by Council in March. Attendees will learn about its development, the seven priority areas, and how they can get involved in shaping our community’s future.
Darcia Curtis, Chair of the CSWB Plan Implementation Committee, explains, “over the past year, our committee has worked tirelessly, with the support of a dedicated consultant, to develop a plan reflecting the diverse voices of our community. Moving forward, collaboration across all sectors, organizations, and residents will be key. I am confident that with ongoing commitment and partnership, our community can create a safer, healthier, and more vibrant Kenora.”
Highlights of the evening include an overview of the CSWB Plan, engagement opportunities with the CSWB Plan Implementation Committee and community partners, free BBQ, a kids’ craft table, a $100 gift card door prize, a mini photo gallery of Youth Photo Contest entries, and the reveal of the CSWB Plan logo.
Community Safety and Well-Being Coordinator, Eric Shih, adds, “building on the incredible work already underway, the Plan embodies a shared vision for everyone to live, grow, and play in harmony. Its success depends on continuous community involvement—making community safety and well-being a shared responsibility for all.”
We look forward to welcoming everyone to this community-focused event. Come learn about the CSWB Plan and how we can all work together to make Kenora a safe, inclusive, and thriving place to call home.
