Please be advised that beginning Tuesday, May 30, Velocity Water Services Inc. will be performing a Unidirectional Flushing Program on the City of Kenora watermain system.
Flushing will take place over the next six weeks, Monday through Saturday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the area outlined in red on the map below.
During the flushing process, there should be no interruptions to water service. Common and temporary effects of the flushing process include a slight drop in water pressure and discoloured water.
Consumers can expect that their water will become cloudy or slightly coloured with a yellow, red, or brown tint. The coloured water may cause alarm at first; however, there is no health risk, and the water is safe to consume.
It may be more visually appealing to postpone household cleaning, laundry, or food preparation until the water runs clear and flushing is complete. It is advised to check the water before doing laundry as the coloured water may cause staining of clothing and fabrics.
Upon the completion of the flushing program in your neighbourhood, it is best to open a cold water tap for a few minutes until the water appears clear and the pressure returns to normal again.
If the water does not clear or if water pressure does not return, please call City Hall Customer Service at 807-467-2000 or 807-467-2080 after hours for additional assistance. You may also submit an online Request For Service at any time.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this important maintenance program.
