Keewatin Channel Bridge Two Lanes Open
until January 4, 2026
Both the westbound and eastbound lanes of the Keewatin Channel Bridge are open for holiday travel until Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.

Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction
The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.
Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.
Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency or bus may be on the bridge at the same time. When multiple are crossing, these vehicles are to cross only after the preceding vehicle has passed the high mid-point of the bridge.
There are many designated parking spaces for persons with accessibility needs both on-street and off-street within the City of Kenora.
Clearly display your Ontario issued Accessible Parking Permit on or in your parked vehicle. This includes motorcycles and company vehicles.
Parking fees, time limits and regulations apply
Pay for parking without having to go to meter. Pay at a "pay-by-plate" kiosk or at an individual meter in some locations. You can pay with quarters, $1, and $2 coins at the meters or kiosks, and by credit card at the kiosks only.
