Paying Property Taxes

You have options to pay your tax bill for property owned in the City of Kenora, including monthly or semi-annually payment plans.

Please note property owned in unincorporated areas outside of the City of Kenora boundaries are paid to separate governing bodies.

Payment options

You can pay your City of Kenora property taxes in a number of ways.

Pay by cheque. If you would like a receipt, please send the entire bill along with your payment.

Do not detach the payment stub. We will send the name/address portion back to you as the receipt.

Drop your payment in the drop box at the front entrance or at the cashier desk at City Hall. If you would like a receipt, please send the entire bill along with your payment. Do not detach the payment stub. We will send the name/address portion back to you as the receipt.

Pay the cashier with cash, debit, or cheque at City Hall. Please bring the entire tax bill with you if you want a receipt.

Set up at your financial institution to pay online or through telephone banking. Please allow five business days for processing.

Pay by credit card, PayPal or Interac eTransfer

Visit PaySimply, a secure third party payment provider, to pay online with any major credit card (Visa, MC, Amex), PayPal or Interac eTransfer. Please allow 3 business days for processing. A convenience fee will be applied to cover payment handling and processing charges.

Pay in-person by debit card or cash at Canada Post

Visit PaySimply, a secure third party payment provider, to generate a QR code to take with you to Canada Post with your payment. Please allow 3 business days for processing. A convenience fee will be applied to cover payment handling and processing charges.

Pay by automatic debit by completing the Property Tax Pre-Authorized Payment form for monthly or semi-annually.

Due dates

Look on your tax bill for the due date. Interim tax bills sent out at the beginning of the year are normally due in February. Final tax bills sent out at the beginning of June are normally due in July.

Once you have registered for property tax e-billing, you will not receive a paper copy of your bill through regular mail.

Interest and penalties

1.25% per month (not compounding) will be charged on any outstanding balance following the due date.

Previous balances

If you owe from a previous tax bill, the balance forwards to your current tax bill. The arrears are subject to penalty.

As a property owner in the City of Kenora, you can request a statement of your property tax account for income tax and other financial records purposes.

Request a statement of account

Complete the Statement of Account request form and submit it to the Tax and Assessment Officer. You can also pick up a copy at City Hall, 1 Main St. S. Kenora. There is a charge of $15.

Reprints

Please keep your tax bill for income tax purposes. If you require a reprint, please contact the Tax and Assessment Officer. There is a charge of $15 for a tax bill reprint.
