As a senior or retiree, you can find a range of activities to fill your day, register for homecare services that offer support in your own home, or research long-term care facilities in the City of Kenora.

Fitness

Age is only a number not a state of mind and growing older does not need to be a time of slowing down. In fact, quite the opposite! Take in a fitness class geared towards the 55 plus group at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre

Alzheimer Society of Kenora Rainy River Districts offers support services for seniors with Alzheimer's and their families.

Community support services offers Meals on Wheels, adult day care, and other services for seniors.

District mental health services for older adults program offered through the Canadian Mental Health Association Fort Frances Branch.

Health care at home offers at home care services by registered nurses and personal support workers.

Age-friendly community

A plan to help Kenora become an officially recognized age-friendly community was developed with funding from the Government of Ontario.

The Age-Friendly Strategic Plan evaluates Kenora's strengths, community barriers, and potential action items to address the World Health Organization's eight age-friendly topic areas:

1. Outdoor spaces and buildings

2. Transportation

3. Housing

4. Social participation

5. Respect and social inclusion

6. Civic participation and employment

7. Communication and information

8. Community support and health services

Ontario age-friendly community outreach program

The Ontario Age-friendly Community Outreach Program provides resources for planning and implementing age-friendly activities.
