Land Acknowledgement
In the spirit of reconciliation, the City of Kenora acknowledges that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Metis of Treaty #3. The City of Kenora was originally the land base of one collective First Nation community, which was separated into three communities now known as Wauzhushk Onigum, Niisaachewan, and Washagamis Bay First Nations. Kenora now sustains many others, all of whom have been welcomed to peacefully share and care for these ancestral Lands and Waters. To support stewardship of the land, the City recognizes the importance of a strong relationship with our Treaty #3 partners. The City of Kenora acknowledges that our economy greatly benefits from the Anishinaabe and Metis that live in and around the City.

The City of Kenora has two roundabouts in Harbourtown Centre to keep traffic flowing constantly, making it easier for everyone to travel.

Roundabouts are circular intersections that are designed to move traffic continuously without the need for traffic lights or stop signs. This helps to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety, and reduce travel times for drivers. The roundabouts in Harbourtown Centre are strategically placed to help us get to our destination quickly and efficiently.

The roundabout web camera link has been discontinued.

Understand how to drive through a roundabout

Tips from the Government of Ontario

Approaching:

  1. Slow down
  2. Keep to the right of the centre island
  3. Use the correct lane
  4. Pay special attention at pedestrian crossings
  5. Yield to cyclists and any traffic already driving through the roundabout
  6. Stop if there are vehicles already inside the roundabout and the way is not clear
  7. Enter when there is a safe gap in traffic

In the roundabout:

  1. Keep to the right of the centre island and drive in a counter-clockwise direction until you reach your exit
  2. Do not pass large vehicles or change lanes
  3. Do not stop inside the roundabout, except to avoid a collision

Exiting:

  1. Use your right-turn signal
  2. If you miss your exit, continue around the roundabout again and then exit
