A Message from the Kenora Age-Friendly Committee

The Kenora Age-Friendly Committee, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kenora, RTOERO District 26, and the City of Kenora, is thrilled to invite you to a Volunteer Fair on February 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre in the Multipurpose Room.

This event is designed to connect community members of all ages with a diverse range of volunteer opportunities across the city while also supporting local organizations in need of dedicated volunteers. Everyone interested in becoming a volunteer and wishing to make a difference is welcome to drop by!

Councillor Lindsay Koch emphasizes the importance of volunteering, stating, "Volunteers are the heart of any community, offering support, care, and energy that contribute directly to its vibrancy and ability for residents to thrive. In return, they gain a sense of fulfillment, build connections, and develop skills, making their impact not only transformative for others but enriching for themselves as well."

The Volunteer Fair will create an engaging environment for those eager to positively impact their community. Attendees will have the chance to meet with organizations offering both one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities, ensuring there's something for everyone, no matter how busy your schedule may be.

Volunteering offers numerous benefits, including the chance to make a meaningful impact, develop new skills, meet like-minded individuals, and gain valuable perspectives. It can enhance your career opportunities, and for students, this Volunteer Fair is a fantastic way to select enjoyable activities while earning community service hours needed for graduation.

Not only does volunteering strengthen our community and support various initiatives, but it also cultivates a sense of purpose, boosts mental and emotional well-being, and fosters a more connected community.

Local organizations looking for volunteers can secure a table by completing the online Organization Volunteer Needs Questionnaire or by emailing sevenden@nwhu.on.ca. Please book your table by February 18 at 4:00 p.m. to ensure your participation.

Get involved in shaping your community and making a lasting difference! Join us on February 19 for the Volunteer Fair organized by the Kenora Age-Friendly Committee and co-hosted by Rotary Club of Kenora, RTOERO District 26, and the City of Kenora. We look forward to working together to build a stronger community through volunteerism.
