Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
The City of Kenora, in partnership with the Kenora Rotary Club, invites residents and visitors to celebrate the official Grand Opening of the Coney Island – Kenora Rotary Club Playground on Tuesday, August 4 at 2:30 p.m. The new playground transforms Kenora’s beloved waterfront destination into a more inclusive place where children and families of all abilities can play, connect, and explore together.
Please be advised that work on the Coney Island – Kenora Rotary Playground replacement project will commence the week of June 8. Removal of the old playground is expected to start around Wednesday, June 10.
Please be advised that recycling requirements have changed for Coney Island residents. Please place all recycling items, including glass, in a clear plastic bag rather than a container.
Please be advised that Coney Island seasonal water service will not be available this weekend in certain areas near the boardwalk, Beach Street, and Head Street.
Please be advised that the start date for Coney Island recycling and garbage dock collection will be Monday, May 25, 2026.
Please be advised the City is planning to remove the Coney Island floating walkway on Friday, May 15, weather permitting.
The City of Kenora is excited to provide an update on the Coney Island – Kenora Rotary Club Playground, to be built this summer. Going beyond accessibility, the project aims for true inclusivity so children and families of all abilities can enjoy outdoor play.
