Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
The City’s on-demand transit service, The Wave, has achieved a major milestone, having delivered more than 60,000 rides since launching in October 2024.

The City of Kenora is pleased to announce that upgrades at the busy intersection of Ninth Street North and Twelfth Avenue North are now complete, and the road reopened in time for the first day of school.
Kenora will soon experience a new flexible, affordable, on-demand microtransit service, The Wave. The Wave hits the road Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
The City of Kenora is excited to announce the launch of an improved transit service called "The Wave" on October 15, 2024, in partnership with service provider Via. This updated service aims to help residents and visitors seamlessly reach their desired destinations within the community. The new transit system will migrate from a conventional fixed route system to a modernized microtransit model, utilizing smaller vehicles for on-demand service.
Kenora's City Council has directed Administration to proceed with negotiations for a new micro-transit solution for our community. Administration has been working diligently to seek options which could stabilize public transit in Kenora.
Kenora Airport Authority (KAA) has received communication from Perimeter Airlines, parent company of Bearskin Airlines, regarding the termination of scheduled service between Thunder Bay (YQT) and Kenora (YQK), effective May 11, 2024.
