Business Continuity Plans in the Event of a Labour Disruption
The City of Kenora is currently in collective bargaining with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 191, which represents 140 frontline workers. The union will be in a legal strike position and the City in a legal lockout position at 12:01 a.m., or one minute past midnight, on Saturday, March 8.
Contingency plans are in place to maintain essential City services in the event of a labour disruption.
In the event of a labour disruption some City services would be reduced or suspended, and meetings and events may be cancelled or rescheduled.
The City will continue to actively monitoring Request for Service submissions. To submit a non-emergency request, please use the online request form. Requests will be addressed in priority order and will only be addressed as deemed priority. These are monitored Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For after-hours water and sewer emergencies, please contact us at 807-467-2080. For emergencies requiring police, fire, or ambulance assistance, call 911.
In the event of a labour disruption, picketing can be expected at City facilities.
