City and Kenora Professional Firefighters Association Agree to New Five-Year Collective Agreement

The City of Kenora is pleased to announce that on Thursday, December 4, 2025, it successfully reached a new five-year collective agreement with the Kenora Professional Firefighters Association (KPFFA). This agreement was achieved through a collaborative and respectful negotiation process, without the need for arbitration.

The new contract provides stability and predictability for both the City and the KPFFA, delivering fair and balanced terms that support the long-term financial planning of the municipality while honouring the essential, life-saving work our firefighters perform in keeping our community safe.

"We are proud of the outcome of these negotiations," said Mayor Andrew Poirier. "This agreement reflects our shared commitment to fairness, sustainability, and the positive impact of teamwork.  It demonstrates what can be accomplished through open dialogue and cooperation."

Kenora Fire Chief Gord Howard adds, "This agreement strengthens our ability to deliver outstanding emergency response and service to the community. By working together, we ensure that our firefighters have the resources and support they need to continue protecting Kenora residents effectively and safely."

The five-year term offers longevity and stability for both parties, avoiding the costs and delays often associated with arbitration. This positive result benefits taxpayers and reinforces the strong partnership between the City and its dedicated professional firefighters.
