City Announces Grant for Conference Hosting

Organizations interested to host conference and corporate events in 2026 may be eligible to apply for a new stream of funding announced today by the City of Kenora.

Identified as a priority project in the annual Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) program, this funding will support conference and corporate events to be hosted in the City between March 1 to May 31, 2026, or from October 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027. Organizations can apply for 25 percent of eligible costs to a maximum of $5,000 for these events that will generate overnight stays at accommodations collecting the MAT and create economic benefit in the City.

“We are excited to announce this new funding opportunity for events that will generate spin-off economic benefit in our community during the shoulder and winter seasons.  We anticipate that a funded event will lead to increased hotel overnight stays with our partners at the Kenora Hospitality Alliance and lead to increased restaurant and retail sales,” said Stace Gander, Chief Administrative Officer. “We have seen examples of similar support programs for these types of events delivered in other communities and are eager to pilot this funding in Kenora for 2026.”

Interested organizations are encouraged to email conference@kenora.ca to receive the application form. Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis, as funding permits.

The Conference and Corporate Events Grant is funded by the City of Kenora Municipal Accommodation Tax.
