Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction

The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.

Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.

Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency or bus may be on the bridge at the same time. When multiple are crossing, these vehicles are to cross only after the preceding vehicle has passed the high mid-point of the bridge.

Friday Route’s Garbage and Recycle Curbside Collection

Due to weather, curbside collection to the following areas was not completed today, Friday, March 6, 2026:

  • Austin Lake Depot
  • South of Coker Road bridge
  • Parts of Valley Drive
  • Ninth Street North
  • Eleventh Avenue North
  • Rideout

Collection to these areas will take place on the route’s next scheduled collection day, Friday, March 13, 2026. Please place all garbage and recycling at the curb by 8:00 a.m.

Residents are reminded that garbage bags must have a City of Kenora bag tag attached. For recycle, use your new 360-litre recycling cart and place the cart so that the wheels face towards your home and the lid opens toward the street. Ensure the cart is at least 3 feet (1 metre) in front of or beside fences, vehicles, or other obstacles. Place your cart on a flat surface that is clear of snow and ice.
