Come Together Kenora for HGTV's Home Town Takeover Canada

You're invited to participate in a short, family-friendly video shoot on Saturday, December 20 at 11 a.m. at the Main Street Christmas Tree. Upriver Media will be on site to capture Kenora’s community spirit as we rally with a resounding, “Home Town Takeover, Come to Kenora!”.
Filming begins at 11 a.m. and will take less than an hour. Dress for the weather! Bring your friends and family! Bring signs and your loudest cheers! Come for prizes and give aways! This is a moment you’ll want to be part of.

Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction

The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.

Vehicles weighing up to 8,500 pounds, including passengers and cargo, may continue to use the bridge via the signalled alternating traffic in the Eastbound lane.

All commercial vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds must use the Highway 17A Bypass. 

Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency vehicle or bus may be on the bridge at the same time.

Matheson Street South Temporary Closure

By City of Kenora - Dec 16, 2025

Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Friday, December 19, 2025.

The closure is necessary to allow for concrete works at 309 Matheson Street South construction site.

Access to local businesses in the area will be maintained.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid the work site.
