Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction

The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.

Vehicles weighing up to 8,500 pounds, including passengers and cargo, may continue to use the bridge via the signalled alternating traffic in the Eastbound lane.

All commercial vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds must use the Highway 17A Bypass. 

Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency vehicle or bus may be on the bridge at the same time.

Norman Park Beach Temporary Closure for Hoopla Island Removal

Please be advised that Norman Park beach will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, September 2, and Wednesday, September 3, to allow for the removal of Hoopla Island. 

The playgrounds, washrooms, and Kenora Rotary Splash Park will remain open.

Please watch for equipment moving between the parking lot and the beach and keep a safe distance to allow Hoopla Island to complete its work. We expect the removal to be completed by 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

We thank the public for their patience as the seasonal recreation amenity prepares to close for the season.
