Notice Regarding Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Please be advised that all City facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, to recognize Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, including:

  • City Hall
  • Kenora Public Library
  • Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre
  • Moncrief Construction Sports Centre
  • Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena
  • Operations Building
  • The Muse – Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre
  • Transfer Station, including the Recycle Depot
  • No recycle and garbage curbside pick-up for the Tuesday route including Lakeside and JM South of the by-pass.

The Wave microtransit service will operate on Tuesday.

On Monday, September 29, City staff will continue their learning journey by participating in educational training. City services will remain open on September 29, with coverage plans in place to ensure continued service to the community.

Staff will be encouraged to wear orange on both Monday, September 29, and Tuesday, September 30, to recognize and honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

On September 30, the public is encouraged to attend a community gathering or powwow, wear orange to honour the children that were lost, acknowledge the survivors and their families, and reflect on the significance of continuing reconciliation for our community and country.
