Quick Action Saves Lives in Early Morning Apartment Fire

At 04:20 this morning, November 13, 2025, Kenora Fire and Emergency Services responded to reports of smoke in a Kenora residence. Upon arriving at the scene, Crews saw visible smoke and swiftly upgraded the response to a working fire.

Firefighters immediately rescued a child at the entrance and a wheelchair-bound resident who was unable to evacuate. A third occupant found in the room of origin, who sustained some burn injuries, was safely removed and transferred to an ambulance for medical attention.

The fire was rapidly extinguished and contained to the room of origin. No other occupants were found at the scene.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined; however, it is not considered suspicious.

This swift, coordinated response by City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services staff exemplifies their dedication to training and professionalism, ultimately saving lives. We extend thanks to our allied agencies: OPP, EMS, and dispatch for their critical support.
