Keewatin Channel Bridge Weight Restriction

The Keewatin Channel Bridge currently has a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments.

Vehicles weighing up to 8,500 pounds, including passengers and cargo, may continue to use the bridge via the signalled alternating traffic in the Eastbound lane.

All commercial vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds must use the Highway 17A Bypass. 

Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge with the flow of regular passenger traffic, although no more than one emergency vehicle or bus may be on the bridge at the same time.

Sports Stars After School Program at Moncrief Construction Sports Centre

Our Recreation Team is hosting an after school program in December. Kids will experience two weeks of structured activities to stay active, learn new skills, and have fun in a supportive environment. Sports Stars After School Program at Moncrief Construction Sports Centre (MCSC) is designed for all ability levels. This program is free for all participants, thanks to our sponsor Canadian Tire Jumpstart.

Registration opens on Friday, November 28 at 9:00 a.m. To reserve your spot, call our Front Reception Desk at 807-467-2087. 

Program details

  • December 8 to December 19
  • Monday to Friday
  • Ages 6 to 8 - 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Ages 9 to 11 - 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. 

Weekly activities

  • Mondays - Track and Field at the MCSC
  • Tuesdays - Swim Activities at the MCSC
  • Wednesdays – Dance and Fitness at the MCSC
  • Thursday, December 11 - Outdoor Games at the MCSC
  • Thursday, December 18 at 4:00 p.m. - Skating at the Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena
  • Fridays - Soccer at the Kenora SportsPlex
