City Facilities Closed on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Please be advised that all City facilities will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, to recognize Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, including:

• City Hall
• Kenora Public Library
• Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre
• Moncrief Construction Sports Centre and Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena
• Operations Building
• The Muse – Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre
• Transfer Station, including the Recycle Depot
• No recycle and garbage curbside pick up for the Wednesday route including Lakeside and JM South of the by-pass.

The Wave microtransit service will operate on September 30.

On Tuesday, September 29, City staff will continue their learning journey by participating in educational training. City services will remain open on September 29, however, staff levels will be reduced with coverage plans to ensure continued service to the community throughout the staff training times.

Staff are encouraged to wear orange on both September 29 and September 30, to recognize and honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

On September 30, the public is encouraged to attend a community gathering or powwow, wear orange to honour the children that were lost, acknowledge the survivors and their families, and reflect on the significance of continuing reconciliation for our community and Country.
