Fire Ban in Effect

No Outside Burning Until Further Notice

Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.

In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.

All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions. 

All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.

The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.

City Seeks Proposals to Revitalize Historic Kenricia Hotel

The City of Kenora is pleased to invite qualified proponents to submit proposals for the revitalization of the historic Kenricia Hotel.

The Kenricia Revitalization Project aims to preserve the landmark’s heritage character while creating sustainable new opportunities that support downtown renewal, drive economic growth, and attract new investment.

“Revitalizing the Kenricia Hotel is an important step toward preserving our history while building a vibrant future for downtown Kenora,” said Mayor Andrew Poirier. “We look forward to working with a visionary partner who can honour this landmark and unlock its potential for our community.”

Qualified development teams are encouraged to visit our Tenders and Request for Proposals page to view the Request for Proposals package and submit a proposal by 11 a.m. CT on October 15, 2026.
