Lakeview Drive Upgrade Projects Begin May 19, 2026

The City is excited to announce that two paving projects on Lakeview Drive will begin on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, for:

1. A section from the Winnipeg River West Branch Bridge to the Winnipeg River East Branch Bridge, approximately one kilometre long, which will continue until the end of September 2026; and
2. The intersection at Parsons Street and Lakeview Drive which will continue until the end of June 2026.

Both projects include overnight construction to complete the work quickly with minimal traffic impacts. 

Here’s what you can expect:

• During the day, two-way traffic will continue through the construction zone at a slow, safe pace. There may be times when lane shifts or single lane traffic may be required. Please follow reduced speed limits and traffic control signs.
• Overnight work from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. will see traffic reduced to one lane, controlled by flagging.
• The sidewalk will be closed as a new multi-use path will be replacing the existing sidewalk.
• Dust and noisy conditions are expected.
• You can still access businesses and services in the construction zone, although entrances may be temporarily moved.
