Fire Ban in Effect

No Outside Burning Until Further Notice

Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.

In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.

All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions. 

All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.

The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.

Parking Impacts at Garrow Park This Weekend

Please be advised that parking at Garrow Park will be limited on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15 as the Kenora Rowing Club hosts the North West International Rowing Association (NWIRA) Championship Regatta on Rabbit Lake. The regatta will bring more than 400 athletes, coaches, and officials to the area, along with parents, families, and supporters. 

Spectators are welcome to attend; however, the parking lot is expected to reach capacity both days of the competition. 

The Kenora Rowing Club has arranged overflow parking at:

  • St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 1 Poirier Drive
  • Tom Nabb Outdoor Soccer Complex, 1465 Valley Drive
  • Kenora Sportsplex, 16 Bunny Street

Note that parking is not permitted on Birchwood Crescent. Please use the designated parking areas and avoid parking on nearby residential streets.

As an alternative to driving, you can book a ride on The Wave microtransit to travel to and from Garrow Park.

Garrow Beach will remain open to the public during the event. Visitors should be aware that parking may be unavailable. Those planning a beach day may wish to consider one of our other local beaches.
