Boil Water Advisory Issued for North of CPR

Please be advised that due to a major watermain break, a Boil Water Advisory has been issued to all Kenora residents north of the Canadian Pacific Railway (as indicated on the map below) consuming water from the City of Kenora Water Distribution System.
This Boil Water Advisory comes into effect today, Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Due to the watermain break, the safety of the drinking water cannot be guaranteed.

Water Service Interruption

Please be advised that residents with City of Kenora water services north of the Canadian Pacific Railway may have experienced a brief water service outage at 11:20 a.m. today, August 9, resulting from a water main strike on private property.
Intermittent reduced water pressure in the Rideout, Minto, and Pinecrest neighbourhoods may be experienced as a result of the damage.
The City’s Water and Sewer Department is onsite and accessing the situation.

Reminder to Bleeder Customers

Please be advised that water service customers with bleeders are reminded of their obligation to make sure their bleeder is running.
There have been an excessive number of calls for service for frozen water lines due to improper use of the bleeder. Bleeder customers can expect to wait for thawing services as City crews work through the call list. You may experience extended periods of time without water.

Reminder to Water Delivery Customers

If you are an active water delivery customer, please keep a clear pathway to your water tank to ensure water delivery. We know this may be a challenge with heavy snow accumulation; however, the City cannot deliver water if the tank is snowed in and not accessible. If you are unable to clear the path on your own, consider asking a neighbour or friend to help shovel it out.

Hydrant Maintenance

Please be advised that the City of Kenora will be performing hydrant flow testing, flushing, and winterizing of the City of Kenora Water System beginning Monday, September 20, through to Friday, October 29, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Please note that the following may occur:
- Discoloration of the drinking water. If this happens, run the cold water tap until the water clears.
