Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Please be advised that temporary one-way detour routes for the Ninth Street North project area will be in place on Thursday October 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..
Please be advised that traffic will be reduced to one lane on Second Street South, near the intersection of Fourth Avenue South, and the sidewalk at the crosswalk will be closed on Wednesday, October 1.
Please be advised that City of Kenora customers may experience delays in receiving water services bills, property tax notices, and other receivables due to the current interruption to postal services.
It is important to remember that customers are still responsible for paying their bills on time.
Please be advised that a culvert will be replaced on Duffus Road on Thursday, September 25, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Please be advised that all City facilities will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, to recognize Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The pool at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre, including the tot pool, hot tub, and sauna, will be closed on Thursday, September 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for staff training.
Please be advised that a section of Fourth Street North will be closed for a sewer and water connection beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
On Monday, September 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the City of Kenora’s Fire and Emergency Services team will be participating in a multi-agency emergency response training exercise at the Kenora Airport.
City of Kenora invites all interested persons to attend a Special Meeting of Council on October 3, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., to consider a By-law to Stop Up, Close, Surplus and Sell a portion of an undeveloped road allowance identified as Cross Street on Plan M25 and Sell certain lands within the municipality.
