Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Please be advised that curbside pick-up areas for recycling and garbage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be refined starting on Tuesday, April 21.
Over the Easter Weekend, April 3 to 6, 2026, operating hours of City buildings and facilities change or modify to recognize the two statutory holidays, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Please be advised that effective Sunday, March 29, at 11:59 p.m., weight restrictions will be in effect. This restriction is necessary to protect highways, streets, and roads from damage during mild, wet spring conditions.
Please be advised that the vehicle weight restrictions on Keewatin Channel Bridge are removed and the westbound lane of the Keewatin Channel Bridge is now open.
Please be advised that due to weather conditions, recycling and garbage curbside collection is delayed on Friday, March 13, for the following areas: Rideout, Valley Drive, Pinecrest, and Jaffray Melick north of the by-pass.
Due to weather, curbside collection to some areas part of the Friday route were not completed today, Friday, March 6, 2026. Collection to these missed areas will take place on the route’s next scheduled collection day, Friday, March 13, 2026.
Take notice that the Council of the City of Kenora passed By-law No. 18-2026 and By-law No. 19-2026 at a meeting on February 17, 2026, under Section 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended. By-law No. 18- 2026 designates the entire City as a Community Improvement Project Area, and By-law No.19-2026 adopts a new Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for the City of Kenora.
