Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Please be advised that on Wednesday, January 14, Main Street South between Second Street South and Third Street South will be closed to allow for the safe removal of the Main Street Christmas tree and seasonal decorations.
Please be advised that beginning Monday, January 5, 2026, the Westbound lane of the Keewatin Channel Bridge will close to allow the Bridge Repair and Recoating Project to continue. Load restrictions remain in place at 8,500 pounds (3,855 kilograms) per vehicle. Commercial vehicles over this limit must use the Highway 17A Bypass.
Please be advised that starting Tuesday, December 23, 2025, to Sunday, January 4, 2026, the Westbound lane of the Keewatin Channel Bridge will reopen for holiday travel.
Please be advised that Erie Street, at St. Louis School in Keewatin, will be trialed as one-way street, aimed at improving pickup and drop-off traffic conditions. Signs will be installed on Monday, December 29, and Tuesday, December 30.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Please be advised that Main Street South between Second Street South and Third Street South will be closed to traffic on Saturday, December 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the Come Together Kenora for HGTV’s Home Town Takeover Canada video shoot.
On Tuesday, December 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. a small section of Ninth Street North, between Artillery Way and Eleventh Avenue North, will be closed for hydro line maintenance by SYNERGY NORTH.
