After consultation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and evaluation of the current hot and dry conditions, the City has cancelled the Canada Day fireworks event scheduled for July 1st.
Given the seriousness of the continued Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) for the area, this includes the use of any personal fireworks on Canada Day as well.

The City of Kenora is advising the public that the Canada Day fireworks celebration may be cancelled for 2023.
Due to the forest fires burning and the hot and dry conditions, local fire bans and restricted fire zones (RFZ) remain in place in many communities across the northwest.

McLeod Park Reopens

The City is pleased to officially reopen McLeod Park with a ribbon cutting celebration.
The redevelopment project began August 2022, and the final pieces were completed last week. The upgrades created a colourful, wood-themed park where families and friends can gather and enjoy a view of the lake. McLeod Park is home to the James McMillan Tugboat and features a new playground and picnic area. The project expands the City’s recreational facilities creating a lively Harbourfront accessible to all.
