Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Council approved the 2024 Municipal Operating budget on January 29, 2024. The City of Kenora’s 2024 Capital Budget was approved on December 20, 2023. These budgets include critical projects initiated by staff, Council, and community input through the Rethinking Budgeting Survey.
The City of Kenora and KDSB have issued a call to action to the All Nations Health Partners to come together in the spirit of collaboration to find long-term solutions to the service gaps in our community to support those who are unsheltered and experiencing homelessness.
Kenora Airport Authority (KAA) has received communication from Perimeter Airlines, parent company of Bearskin Airlines, regarding the termination of scheduled service between Thunder Bay (YQT) and Kenora (YQK), effective May 11, 2024.
The City of Kenora is pleased to announce the introduction of a new incentive to help accelerate private sector investment in Kenora. Council supported a By-Law which provides the opportunity for the City to enter into agreements for private sector projects.
