Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Please be advised that First Avenue South between Sixth Street South and Seventh Street South will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, October 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for emergency manhole repairs.
Please be advised that a section of First Avenue South at Matheson Street South for 60 meters will be closed to all traffic beginning Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. until Friday, October 24.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kenora will hold a Public Meeting to consider a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment under City of Kenora Zoning By-law 101-2015, as described below and shown on the attached map.
Please be advised that the Thistle Arena upgrade project is nearing completion, and the arena will open on Tuesday, October 14, with regular ice scheduling resuming for all users.
Please be advised that final paving works have started on Ninth Street North between Mellick Avenue and Scramble Avenue. Paving will occasionally interrupt traffic flow, including reducing traffic to one lane, from October 8 to October 10, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
All City buildings and facilities are closed on Monday, October 13, for Thanksgiving.
Please be advised that important scaffolding construction work will begin taking place from the topside of the Keewatin Channel Bridge starting Thursday, October 9, in the Westbound traffic lane for approximately three weeks.
October 5 to 11, 2025, is Fire Prevention Week (FPW). The City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services is teaming up with the Office of the Fire Marshal and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week (FPW), to promote this year’s campaign, “Charge into Fire Safet: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”
