Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning or backyard fire pits. Gas or fuel stoves, charcoal, and wood burning stoves or furnaces are permitted with extreme caution and only under specific conditions.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Please be advised that traffic will be reduced to one lane on Rabbit Lake Road between Mellick Avenue and Universal Drive on Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13, starting at 9:00 a.m. for ditching work.
All City facilities will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, to observe Remembrance Day. The Wave microtransit service will operate on November 11.
Please be advised that traffic will be reduced to one lane on Transmitter Road, between 101 and 215 Transmitter Road, on Wednesday, November 5, starting at 9:00 a.m. for ditching work.
Please be advised that the Coney Island floating walkway will be installed for the season on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The City of Kenora’s Economic Development and Tourism team has nominated Kenora for HGTV’s Home Town Takeover Canada, expanding from the popular U.S. franchise to celebrate community pride and support revitalization efforts in communities with a population of 20,000 or fewer. The selected community will be announced by HGTV in the coming months.
Please be advised that the back lane of Sixteenth Avenue North and Seventh Avenue North will be closed intermittently on Monday, November 3, starting at 9:00 a.m. to repair a storm drain.
Join us in continuing Kenora’s successful Ice Candles tradition, a community-driven celebration that has brightened winters at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery for over 25 years and produces more than 3,000 candles annually.
Please be advised that starting on Sunday, November 9, the Transfer Station will have reduced hours on Sundays for the winter. The seasonal Sunday hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please be advised that Greenwood Drive/Road will be closed intermittently on Friday, October 31, 2025 starting at 9:00 a.m. to put in a culvert.
