Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
The City’s on-demand transit service, The Wave, has achieved a major milestone, having delivered more than 60,000 rides since launching in October 2024.
Council will hold a Public Meeting under s. 51 of the Planning Act to consider a proposed Draft Plan of Subdivision affecting lands located on Johnson Road.
Snow removal will take place in the Keewatin area, starting at May Avenue and working westerly, on Monday, February 9, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Stace Gander as the City’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) effective February 5, 2026.
We are excited to announce that the Kenora Thistle Arena at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre will be offering spring ice time from April 12 to May 10.
Please be advised that the Tunnel Island (Waa’say’Gaa’Boo) parking lot and trail system will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from Monday, February 9, to Friday, February 13.
Please be advised that snow removal operations will take place on Park Street from Sixth Avenue South to the end of Park Street covering blocks 600 to 1000 on Monday, February 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Curbside garbage and recycling collection to Twelfth Street, Erie Street, Portage Street, and May Avenue were not completed today, Thursday, January 29, 2026. These locations will be collected tomorrow.
