Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Please be advised that the spring load restrictions put in place on March 29, 2026 on local roads will be terminated in coordination with the Ministry of Transportation, effective Friday June 5, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
Please be advised that TC Energy will be running a blowdown maintenance project from Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 13 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Blowdown will occur once daily for three hours.
Please be advised that recycling requirements have changed for Coney Island residents. Please place all recycling items, including glass, in a clear plastic bag rather than a container.
To welcome summer, the City of Kenora has installed a new, bright, 3D KENORA sign located at Husky the Muskie. The new 3D sign welcomes residents and visitors alike, highlighting Kenora’s vibrancy while inviting everyone to snap and explore the beloved harbourfront. The new KENORA sign is part of the McLeod Park rejuvenation project.
On May 28, 2026, City of Kenora Council approved to proceed with the expropriation of the Kenricia Hotel, completing the Certificate of Approval stage, and moving forward with the Registration of an Expropriation Plan.
Please be advised that beginning on Monday, May 25, traffic will be reduced to one lane for approximately nine meters on the east side of Hennepen Lane, north of Second Street South.
The City of Kenora is pleased to announce it has chosen the Voyent Alert! service to keep you informed during times of urgency. Voyent Alert! keeps you informed during critical events like fires, floods, evacuations, fire bans, service disruptions, and other urgent information. Registration for the service is free, simple, and anonymous. You can choose how you would like to receive alerts.
Please be advised that beginning May 21, 2026 the Central Park playground will remain closed for the time being to allow for surface improvements as part of the Central Park Upgrade project.
Please be advised that Coney Island seasonal water service will not be available this weekend in certain areas near the boardwalk, Beach Street, and Head Street.
On Monday, May 18, the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All other City buildings and facilities are closed.
