Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Due to the continuing significant weather event, the Transfer Station has experienced flooding. The facility will be closed until further notice.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. Flooded roads, standing water, fallen trees, and other storm-related hazards may affect travel throughout the community. If you must drive, use caution, and plan a safe alternate route home, as some roads may be closed or impassable.

The City is pleased to advise that Coker Road has reopened to traffic. All detour signage has been removed and final grading work has been completed.
Tourism Kenora is hosting Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026™, a once-in-a-lifetime community event at the Kenora Harbourfront and south harbourfront parking lot. The south harbourfront parking lot will be closed, and traffic and parking impacts are expected during event setup and on event day.
Please be advised that there may be traffic delays in the downtown core on Saturday, June 27, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The City's recreation department is excited to announce that the Lane Pool will be staying open for one more week before closing for the summer.
Please be advised that the Matheson Street bridge will be closed to all traffic and pedestrians on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
