Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Please be advised that starting Friday evening, November 21, 2025, and continuing until further notice, the Keewatin Channel Bridge will have a vehicle weight limit due to scaffolding adjustments. Vehicles weighing up to 8,500 pounds, including passengers and cargo, may continue to use the bridge via the signalled alternating traffic in the Eastbound lane. All commercial vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds must use the Highway 17A Bypass.
The Aquatic Centre at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre will be closed to the public to host the 2025 Kenora Swimming Sharks Swim Meet on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Tim Welch Consulting Inc. (TWC) presented Council with the findings of the comprehensive Housing Needs Study at the November 20, 2025, Committee of the Whole meeting. The Summative Report provides a high level summary of the reports findings and includes a precise, local view of Kenora’s housing supply, affordability, and future needs.

Please be advised that Norman Drive from Parsons Street to Third Avenue West will be closed to all traffic due to a watermain break until further notice.
The original Public Planning Proceeding of Council intended to be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 12:00 p.m., has been rescheduled to Tuesday, December 9, at 12:00 p.m.
Please be advised that Council’s Regular Committee of the Whole meeting intended to be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 9:00 a.m., has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 20, at 9:00 a.m.
