Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.
Please be advised that sewer and water upgrades will begin in the Third Avenue South back lane on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. To allow the work to proceed, there will be road closures in the area.
The City is excited to announce that two paving projects on Lakeview Drive will begin on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The City is excited to host an upcoming virtual information workshop aimed at potential candidates interested in running for municipal council. The free workshop, featuring guest speaker Nigel Bellchamber, will provide valuable insights into the realities of serving on council.
Please be advised that as part of the Central Park greenspace upgrade project, the playground will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, May 12 through Thursday, May 14 to allow for drainage work in the park.
Please be advised that the start date for Coney Island recycling and garbage dock collection will be Monday, May 25, 2026.
Please be advised that a culvert replacement will take place at the Anicinabe Park boat launch on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Users of the boat launch can expect delays throughout the day.
Please be advised that upgrade work at Central Park will begin on Monday, May 11, 2026. Certain areas of the park will be fenced off during construction.
Please be advised the City is planning to remove the Coney Island floating walkway on Friday, May 15, weather permitting.
The City invites residents and visitors to a ribbon cutting celebration marking the recent enhancements to the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre. Join us in the newly renovated lobby on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 3 p.m..
Starting Sunday, May 17, the Transfer Station will resume its regular Sunday hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
