Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.

A watermain tie in will occur on Brinkman Road on Monday, July 13. Motorists are advised to follow detours along Ninth Avenue North and Seventh Street North to avoid the work area. The project is expected to be completed by Friday, July 17.
City of Kenora Council approves funding through the new Community Improvement Plan on June 23, 2026. Grants were awarded across 19 successful applicants, supporting projects that will enhance commercial properties, increase housing opportunities, improve accessibility, strengthen community safety, and encourage reinvestment in underutilized spaces.

Please be advised that Main Street, from First Street South to Second Street South, will be temporarily closed and designated as a ‘No Parking Zone’ on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Please be advised that the Rotary Splash Park is temporarily closed for the remainder of the week for repairs after a significant storm event. The playgrounds, washrooms, and accessible paved path remain open.
Following the significant weather event on July 6, please be advised of the following service updates: There will be no Industrial, Commercial, Institutional (ICI) recycling collection today, July 7. Curbside recycling and garbage collection will continue on the regular schedule, unless road conditions prevent crews from safely reaching certain areas. The Transfer Station remains closed while clean-up efforts continue.
City of Kenora crews continue to respond across the community following yesterday’s significant storm event. At this time, response efforts are focused on assessing and repairing critical municipal infrastructure and addressing public safety concerns. Residents are encouraged to submit non-emergency issues through the City’s onine Request for Service online reporting tool.
