Fire Ban in Effect
No Outside Burning Until Further Notice
Please be advised that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has announced a Restricted Fire Zone is in effect as of Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. local time for the Northwest region.
In collaboration with this announcement, City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services has issued a City-Wide fire ban for the City of Kenora.
All outside burning is prohibited, including brush and grass burning, backyard fire pits, or cook stoves that use solid fuels (wood or charcoal). BBQs that use propane are permitted with extreme caution.
All burning permits are cancelled until further notice.
The City of Kenora fire ban will remain in effect until the Restricted Fire Zone is lifted by MNRF.
Transfer Station is Open
The Transfer Station has reopened following the flood clean-up. All services have resumed and the facility is operating its regular hours.

Take notice that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kenora will hold a Public Meeting to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment under City of Kenora Official Plan, 2015, as described below and with subject lands at 1060 Lakeview Drive, 832 Lakeview Drive, File D09-26-01.
The City is pleased to announce that on February 17, 2026, Council approved the much anticipated Community Improvement Plan (CIP). This single, comprehensive plan aligns Kenora’s growth and revitalization efforts and expands available financial incentives to encourage and support development.
Please be advised that curbside collection for most residences on the Wednesday route, including south of Ninth Street North to Laurenson Creek, will not be completed today, Wednesday, April 8, due to weather conditions.
Repairs to the Portage Bay Bridge will resume tomorrow, April 8, 2026. Crews will start onsite with snow removal, followed by scaffold modifications. For your safety, the Portage Bay Bridge remains closed to all pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Please be advised that curbside pick-up areas for recycling and garbage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be refined starting on Tuesday, April 21.

Over the Easter Weekend, April 3 to 6, 2026, operating hours of City buildings and facilities change or modify to recognize the two statutory holidays, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Please be advised that Matheson Street South from the from the corner of Matheson Street South for approximately 50 meters east on First Avenue South will be closed to all traffic on Monday, March 30, 2026.
